SFN/IN DISGUST SPLIT

by

Finally, the long-awaited awaited split between SFN and In Disgust is out on Drugged Conscience, a record four years in the making and originally intended as a 5” before evolving into a single-sided 7”. In the time since this project began, both bands broke up, with members of SFN going on to play in Mellow Harsher and members of In Disgust to play in Permanent Ruin, and In Disgust has since reunited and broken up again. The record opens with three tracks of thrashing powerviolence from SFN. Less noisy than their Itching 7” but still the punishing SFN sound. The remaining four tracks, coming it at just under a minute and a half, are from In Disgust. These tracks are atypical for the band veering more towards noisecore than the grindcore of releases like their seminal Reality Choke 10”. The tracks are a bit simpler than older In Disgust tracks and revel more in feedback, which may alienate some fans, but solid nonetheless. Whether the record lives up to the years of anticipation is up to you. The split is one of four new releases from Drugged Conscience, and part of their strongest batch in recent memory. The other new releases are: a CDr from ultra-prolific noise legend Andrew Coltrane, a killer grindcore EP from Gainesville’s Radiation, and an LP from Miami’s Homestretch.
