“If you don’t stay for Secret Lover, I’m never talking to any of you again!” bassist/vocalist Ana Karina DaCosta declared to the audience towards the end of her band 28 Degrees Taurus’s set. Her ultimatum was reasonable. Anyone who can’t appreciate Worcester’s finest is not worthy of friendship, let alone verbal communication. Secret Lover mounted the Middle East’s upstairs stage at midnight (yes, this technically took place on 6/6, not 6/5. So sue me, you pedants!) treating all who’d wisely stuck around to a massive helping of infectiously energetic garage pop.
