SEAN NICHOLAS SAVAGE’s latest album BERMUDA WATERFALL (2014) begins with haunting vocal melodies layered over island-ready percussion. After this brief instrumental intro, the aptly named song NATURALLY carries on the easy, rhythmic sound.
Prominent, clear vocals veer the lyrically strong HEARTLESS farther from the beach. The album’s carefree attitude dips into despair and continues dwelling with the song EMPIRE. The track is heavy with heartbreak but has an 80’s-inspired groove that feels light enough to move to.
BERMUDA WATERFALL ends on a hopeful note with the song SOME THINGS NEVER DIE, which feels upbeat and optimistic as SAVAGE reflects, “Some things never die, beautiful things like you and I.”
The dreamy album is SEAN NICHOLAS SAVAGE’s 11th since 2008, and like many before it, was released by dear Montreal friends ARBUTUS RECORDS this past May.
