There is cyberpunk and then there is CYBER PUNK. This “record review” is not so much a record review as such, more a product review. The local transgressive hardcore workhorses in SADIST (who you may remember from my top 10 locals of 2014 list or any number of recent area DIY appearances) and their buddies in industrial punk cabal L.O.T.I.O.N. (or Leaders Of Tomorrow Ingest Only Noise) have released a laser-etched 2-gig dangly-ass flash drive earring featuring unreleased live video recordings of both bands.

This one of a kind item comes housed in a hand-stamped envelope and features art by Alexander Heir (Death/Traitors). Either you already have realized this is pretty much the coolest shit ever or you can just stop reading now. While a lot of people can dismiss modern punk (and indie, and rock in general) as being mired in nostalgia and fetishism for vintage gear and vinyl (not that you shouldn’t also buy SADIST’s new 7″), this shit is actually new and different. A brilliant working of modern tech into a sort of Mad Max aesthetic. As an object alone it’s a brilliant concept. The fact that both bands totally slay is just an added bonus.
