Portland, Maine’s psychedelic four-piece Reverend Green takes you plummeting through time and space in their debut single, “In Your Head.”

The band starts off the five-minute track in a mellow, dreamy haze. As the song progresses, the drums become more aggressive, the vocals approach from their distant, spacey beginnings, and the bass-line picks up the tempo—a quickening heartbeat. “In Your Head” captures what it’s like to think through a kaleidoscope; ever-changing, evolving, and wildly absorbing: a journey from beginning to end.

Reverend Green sticks to its roots more than most modern psych bands. Still, the group incorporates hints of variation to the raw origins of psych rock’s past that are distinct in “In Your Head,” creating a classic but engaging sound.
