[Reception] Shahryar Nashat: Skins and Stand-Ins @ Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts (Cambridge)

by

Harvard’s Carpenter Center has provided Boston with some fresh and compelling programming this summer and fall, including the upcoming exhibition that features the work of Swiss-born, Berlin-based artist Shahryar Nashat. His first solo show in the US, this body of work in particular addresses the complex relationship between the human body in actuality and its idealized versions rendered faultless in contemporary culture and throughout art history. This exhibition incorporates Nashat’s varied practices, including performance, sculpture, photography and video art, and extends from the CCVA into the neighboring galleries of the Harvard Art Museums.

Opening Reception: 10/29, 5:30—7pm
On View: 10/29—1/10
