What would The Shirelles have sounded like if they were angrier and had a penchant for shredding (and access to a distortion channel)? Would they sound like Columbus, Ohio’s scuzzy garage rock group Raw Pony?

Hey, who knows? (It is fun to imagine them shrieking “I wanna bleeeed!” like Raw Pony, though.) But what’s certain is the addictiveness of Raw Pony’s Demo Tape cassette, whose blistering, and one may daresay “raw”, five tracks show that no matter how much you shred, how much you scream, and how much fury you exude in your drumsticks — angst is angst, baby, whether it’s sweetly sung or shouted and smothered in fuzz.
