Thrash metal party starting demigods, RAMMING SPEED (they, 4 dudes, never stopping, always waging, war on times, devoid of good), came home a little while ago. Boston was long home to these Men of Satan’s Beer up until pretty recently. They have migrated south for the metal-er climes of Richmond, VA however. Lucky for all of us, they tour incessantly. And that’s essentially what is going on here in this vid filmed in Allston.
From their most recent album (stream below) DOOMED TO DESTROY, DESTINED TO DIE (PROSTHETIC RECORDS), the jam in question is called “Anthem of Despair (Summer Jam)” and it heavily leaks the high energy metal alchemy that made RAMMING SPEED underground, DIY music heroes here in Boston. Ripping guitars, sludgy death metal crashing into thrashing madness, Pete conducting and Jonah keeping the whole fucker on the rails. Barely. If you were to put a bottle of RAMMING SPEED in a paper bag for later, you would, later, when going to drink your bottle of SPEED, quickly realize that all you actually now have is a wet paper bag sitting in a puddle of RAMMING SPEED. I hope that the hoi polloi of Richmond are treating you right SPEED men. I’ll let the band tell the story of their awesome and highly entertaining video.
“For this music video we headed back up to Boston from our current home in Richmond, VA and threw a wild house party. We wanted to show the best part about being in a band; the friendship and energy that come with playing in a tiny, sweaty ass room with no stage. As we get older many have come and gone, so this video is a snapshot at some of our friends new and old that are keeping shit wild and awesome in the Boston DIY scene in 2014.”
