Nightime Sunshine plays on May 6th @ Atwoods

Need some jubilant psych pop for your 4/20? Got it for you. Take a look at the guy making it too. Red beard. Cosmic vibes. Cute dog. If you’ve been to a show @ the Lilypad in the last 8 or so years, you know Jesse Gallagher. Hell, if you’ve traveled the hidden unpaved dirt roads of Cambridge in that time, you’ve encountered Jesse. No doubt. Always recording on his own and for others (he recorded and produced the first Quilt record, Doug Tuttle’s 1st album was recorded in his apt), always creating (playing w/ Biff Rose, Da Burdz, The New Black Magic Rainbow Quartet, etc.) always playing, but Jesse where are the mementos we can take away? Well, here’s something, and hopefully it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

“Song About A Song” is the epitome of breezy. A classic Paul Simon concoction rife with chem trails of guitar going off in all directions, flavorful Rhodes piano, and an ebullient sweetness, and earnestness that feels awfully good right about now. I’m about as sick of rock music as one can be in general, but this won me over.

Sean Aylward directs Jesse as a gnome who gets to ride around on the back of that cute ass dog of his and smooch with Mariam from Bong Wish! And listen to theeeez: Nightime Sunshine is playing a 2 hr gig on Sunday May 6th @ 10pm at Atwoods in Cambridge (for just $6). Let that wash over you…

Here’s a vid of Jesse’s old band Apollo Sunshine covering a William Onyeabor song 10 years ago to the day, something about Jesse and this day…
