PAPER CASTLES – VAGUE ERA

by

Burlington, VT’s Paper Castles is the brainchild of Paddy Reagan, originally featuring Boston’s favorite sons, gtossers Ian and Peter. After an EP, an album, and the pair’s subsequent departure from Burlington, Paper Castles returned in an all new format. Ditching the oft-ethereal downer folk of the first two releases for a more direct indie rock sound, Paper Castles brought in new members and became a rock quartet. Vague Era is the fruit of these labors. The album combines these songs with a series of sound collage pieces to create a new chapter for Paper Castles while still feeling vaguely familiar. Highlights include “Paradise” and “Rest In Pieces,” two tracks that sound destined to be college radio hits. The album’s availability is a little hazy. Made-to-order CDrs appear to be available on Amazon, and cassettes may or may not exist, but the easiest way to obtain the album at the moment is probably through the band’s bandcamp, along with their first two releases.
