NO ONE’S HEROES — 2001 EP

by

It is hard to quantify the impact of the music one enjoys in his adolescence on the music he will go on to make. Will those influences carry through? Often it is hard to tell. In the case of No One’s Heroes, it served as a jumping-off point for musics left of center. No One’s Heroes was a hardcore punk band from Sturbridge, MA at the dawn of the new millennium, comprised of people who would go on to projects like Nude Black Glass, Color Rabbit, Compra Y Venta, and Paper Tiger, among others. While psychedelic and abstract sounds would soon supplant late ’90s-influenced hardcore, the introduction this served for a group of teenagers would develop a mindset, a musical trajectory that would send them further underground and on to bigger and better things.

Saved from oblivion, No One’s Heroes’ EP is available now as an online release. For a look at what some of these fellas are doing 14 years later, head on over to Gray Cake Tapes and take a listen.
