Don’t let the American flag in the photo above fool you, these fuckers are from Ottawa. NEW SWEARS is the name, garage punk is the game. These guys have a good garage to punk ratio, full of sneering energy, but with room enough for a damn good song to exist. If anyone needed to know, the bass in this song sounds exactly what I like a bass to sound like, a little grimy like a slightly broken Rickenbacker. The rhythm section barrels through this song with shotgunning-a-beer-like intensity, carrying some great guitar riffs on their shoulders. I will reiterate, perfect balance of “garage” and “punk”.
