NEOTANTRIK – BLUE AMIGA

by

We show a lot of love towards Demdike Stare around here – their noisy vinyl archaeology via bass techno suits our tastes. Neotantrik exists as a concept-driven DS side project made up of Sean Canty, one half of Demdike, and Andy Votel, co-founder of Finders Keepers Records. Canty and Votel make spacious, cinematic collages; their new LP Blue Amiga is full of ambient risks and group exploration, a rare, untamed sound that pits itself against obvious signs and signifiers.

The disc only gets lovelier still when one scopes the guest list – Canty and Votel managed to get synth goddess Suzanne Ciani, Swedish jazz legend Bruno Spoerri, and folk musician Jane Weaver for Blue Amiga. Together, the unit take listeners through endless landscapes, brimming with ideas, snapshots of an impossible supergroup, too good to be true.

Blue Amiga is out now on Pre-Cert Home Entertainment and boasts art direction by Votel and Asia Argento (Dario’s daughter!), featuring private photography from Giallo actress Daria Nicolodi’s collection. Check out a sample below.
