Unfortunately, the Bay Area’s Neon Piss called it quits earlier this year after only three years as a band. Following up last year’s self-titled lp on Deranged Records comes the Close The Door single, released back in March by Vinyl Rites. The single takes the melodic, dark punk of the lp and increases gloom. The label’s description of the record as sounding like “later gloomy Damned mixed with good early Damned” is apt. This 7” is a strong follow up to what was one of the best albums of last year, showing a progression of the band’s sound over two catchy-as-hell, Wipers-influenced punk songs that border on being post-punk.
