That MINIBEAST Peter Prescott sent over this new jammer from his project, called yes, MINIBEAST. “RE:action” is the name of the four minute indie rock rambler that is falling very pleasantly on these ears (I mean that in the best way possible), especially when the stray electronics (that hover like a spectre o’er the track) intrude. Some co-worker of mine with a very lazy eye who I used to hate, but who is slowly regaining my non-hatred, just came in while I was listening. From across the room, without being able to really hear what was going on, he claimed that this track sounded like the “guy from JESUS AND MARY CHAIN covering an early R.E.M. song.” Don’t shoot the messenger, but certainly there are worse comparisons. Though I’m sure lukewarms are harder to stomach when you’ve played in bands like VOLCANO SONS, and whatever other musical projects Prescott has been involved with. Anyway, I’m into it. Loose, only tangentially staying on the rails, early 90s indie rock vibe sounding propulsion. Hope to hear more MINIBEAST-ing in 2015.
