St Louis’ Lumpy And The Dumpers have put out one of 2013’s most essential records in their debut 7”, Sex Pit, out on Muckraker Records. The riffs on Sex Pit are some of the catchiest hardcore riffs written in recent memory, but the songs are really driven by Lumpy (aka Martin Meyer of Sweet Tooth)’s vocals. Slime oozes out of every pore of this record, as the lyrics secrete lines like “too much slime / no such thing” and “I wanna see you nitwits pogo.” The lyrics match the fantastic artwork, which again creates an image of sewers and filth, setting the stage for three ugly and demented tracks of hardcore punk rock n’ roll. Each one of these three tracks is a classic. A new 7” is coming out on Total Punk, but until then the demo, Halloween cassingle, and Sex Pit 7” are all on the Lumpy And The Dumpers bandcamp.
