California haze poppers White Fence are one of the best songwriting groups right now operating in the reverb and echo wooziness arena of current underground pop. Shards of Pure Guava-era Ween are strewn throughout their recordings, but there’s much more of a 60s vibe mixed in by the folks in White Fence. At times you can hear local favs MMOSS in their sound. Droning pop from a nearby, but just out reach dimension with really awesome and interesting guitar playing all over the place. They have a new record out on Woodsist that you probably want to check out. It’s called IS GROWING FAITH. As you probably know we @ Bodies of Water have a bias toward bands who can write a hook and build some suspense in their music. This band is just lovely at doing those things and they have a great pallete of sounds and ideas from which they work. I love these kinds of bands(and there aren’t that many of them)that give off this kind of floating feeling, as if you’re on an escaltor going nowhere prodded on by some weird fuzz and some lulling melodies and a distant drum set being played by a rock solid apeman. Ascending.
