Dutch legends the EX have managed to survive for over 30 fucking years, never stopping, never compromising, always making their politics a large part of their being as a band. They have been at their best surrounding themselves with African & industrial rhythms, drone punk moves, and sincerity. And they’ve traveled musically from Crass-like jagged punk(their debut album(and this writer’s fav), “Disturbing Domestic Peace”, for download below), to harsher, noisier post-punk influenced excursions(their lauded “Pokkeherrie” also found below), to basically everywhere else a self respecting band can go including myriad ethnic folk musics excursions, and visits to improvised zones of mystery and wonder. Singer and co-founder G.W. Sok left the group in 2009, but did they halt their steamroller of constant and consistent noisemaking? NO! They have a new singer and they are rolling into Allston tonight so that you and I both can see what new things they will shove inside our ears. LISTEN DAMMIT.
