This is some rambling slop indie psych. In a way a 90s update of KALACAKRA who we profiled slightly last week. A lost Boston band from Boston’s early 90s indie rock heyday(or so I’ve been told).
Comparisons between this and Sore Eros are not ridiculous, but the songs aren’t as good here. “Jack Smith” is a lovely little song ending in a wash of guitars layered on top of one another making for a huge mess. The slightest shades of early Built To Spill, or One Foot In The Grave era Beck are discernible. Really this sounds just about like a sad boy who ate too many mushrooms wandering through the woods thinking
about how awesome his life would have been if he hadn’t just broken
up with his girlfriend who he had been dating for 6 months. It
had been his first real relationship. So he wonders if he’ll
ever again meet another girl. There is no resolution for this young
man before record’s end.
