Snake Flower 2 is a raging trippy garage rock thing coming out of the San Fran area. Main dude Matthew Melton is also in the Bare Wires and has apparently been on a raging tear of fuzzed out melody writing for some time now. These guys have a new single out on Southpaw Records. “Wild Child” from the 7″ can be heard below. What seperates these guys, and sound blasters like them, is the songwriting involved in their efforts. I know I bring it up a lot, but good songwriting has been a lost art for some time in the underground. But happily it seems to be coming back in a major way, and Snake Flower 2 is right there. Download their record RENEGADE DAYDREAM from a couple years ago below. It’s full of lots of garage rock tropes, but there’s enough twists and turns going on to make it a pretty fun ride. Good to see (some) garage rock/punk going in the right (my) direction.
