BOSTON/NE BANDS, Fresh Stream

>LISTEN TO: QUILT

Reverb slathered multi-harmony drift that has been creeping and crawling through Boston’s basements and other spaces for some time now. Quilt played a B.O.W. show last month with Happy Jawbone Family Band & Bird Names. And that bill shared should give you a rough idea of what kind of game this trio is playing. Somewhere where folk sensibilities are colliding with the dazed and confused dying embers of rock n’ roll is where Quilt is hanging out, creating large amounts of headroom, indeed, for one’s head to move around in. Listening to their latest recordings, the COWBOYS IN THE VOID/PENOBSKA OAKWALK single, I am hearing (the good)Buffalo Springfield updated for the new millenium. Drifting, beautiful harmony laden shambolic pop songs that never really begin, or end; rather become and disappear. These recordings much more clearly capture the magic sound of QUILT, an echo chamber full of pop nuggets that insist on a magic reality when I’m like, ugh I have to work. And then I look in the mirror and I’m like, WAIT A SECOND. NO I DON’T. QUILT play around in new york and boston a lot. Catch em.
