MOTHER OF FIRE come to us from Minnesota tonight having released records on the awesome DE STIJL RECORDS. ROTTEN APPLES & EXUSAMWA represent for Boston. And you know if BOTH of those bands(sincerely two of the most awesome and original bands happening in the Boston area) are playing a show then it MUST be a good show! and turns out that that theory is more than correct. MOTHER OF FIRE cast dank, atmospheric musical spells. Drums, bass, violin, and voice? An unconventional set up, but a very powerful one. Drums and bass create a constant stomp, often with a tribal feel, while the melody is either strangled or set free to roam by the singer/violist. There’s a Kraut thing going on here in some of their songs with the slow build/slow pay off thing, and then there’s almost a noise rock vibe happening at other other moments. If you would like to get your head lost in a sea of sound and perhaps flail a bit then this COULD BE FOR YOU! Evocative of other musics but sounding pretty much like only itself, I would definitely think about going to see this gang in a very intimate space tonight! Message us for address or there’s a facebook event.
