SACRED BONES scores again. San Fransisco’s MOON DUO(featuring mems. of Wooden Shjips) have released their new record on the label. It’s called MAZES. It’s a pretty good time too. Shimmering guitars show up early and take us on a drone pop journey. Upbeat organ gets added to the fray in the song “Mazes”, creating perfect drivin down the highway rock, including ripping guitar leads and solos. A little later in “Scars” things get dubbed out, and we meet with electronic beats making for some serious slow drift groove. MOON DUO go all over on this record. There’s a couple rippers from get go, full of fuzzed off moments and lots of creation of squalls of mangled guitars, joining the more mellow bliss of some other tracks. There’s even some fuzz laden, hand clapping, dance floor sway making(and even hip shaking) moments on MAZES. Psychedelic guitar basted droning garage pop. Mmmm.
