Micachu and the Shapes, from London, are all over the place. Screeching fuzzed out guitars. Lots electronic and sampled bits and pieces. Acoustic guitar. Miniature post-punk songs. Vocals going off in every single direction, affected, and not. Heavy traces of indie electronic acts like Bjork, Self, and Yacht are present. Sounds like some of the Blow’s(probably thinking of her stuff with Yacht) electronic output though far more consistently bumpin’. In the end this is sample laden glitchy poppy post-punk. There are so many catchy electronic punk moments that this is just undeniable if you dig this kind of stuff. And apparently I’m quite late to the game on this one as Micachu seems pretty well known already. “Lips” and “Eat Your Heart” are my favorites off this JEWELLERY record. “Lips” is post-punk with dollops of electronic noise on top. So damn catchy and bouncy, I mean I love this, and doesn’t she have great attitude in her sing song vocals? “Eat Your Heart” starts off with a great sampled beat, and then the acoustic guitar joins in, and then the chorus hits all fuzzed out, and man, did I mention that I love this record?
