When you have a fever, and the only prescription is more bass and breakbeat, look no further than KIDKANEVIL, our pal across the pond in Britain who has been absolutely killing it lately. Hyped up by our local beloved Luke Kirkland (of INITIALS B.R. and MARCONI), KIDKANEVIL explodes out of the studio with a massive sound defined by rapid-fire sample splicing and undeniable dance grooves, raining electronic bleeps and gronks like acid in Detroit. Back in September he released his latest beat tape Tokyoshire Research Inc on London-based First World Records, and this record is no slouch. Instrumental hip-hop at its finest flows like electrified whisky on tracks like “Ay Y Y Yo” and if you get down with the glitchiness then check out “Sea of Tranquility” and “Oh…” for a taste of fried synapses and ecstasy sweat. Unfortunately KIDKANEVIL doesn’t have any trips planned out West but don’t let that discourage you — he is a bona fide clubrat who is addicted to gigging. So keep up the positive noize out here and no doubt he will take notice. In the meantime KID has a very extensive catalog of material to get cozy with, and a bunch of it is free, so if I were you I would hop the heck on that. Catch the crest of this latest wave of Britronica and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
