Impossibly fast “different” grind from Jon Chang, formerly of the astonishing DISCORDANCE AXIS. To my admittedly naive(to the larger world of grind, etc.) ears, GRIDLINK picks up pretty much where Chang’s former band left off. Insane riffage and blastbeat assault but always with an underlying hint of melody amidst the sonic shrapnel. Honestly, I’ve never really gone deep down into the rabbit hole of grind and related genres. I’ve been more a very interested bystander with some seriously clued in friends. I had to mention these guys though after hearing them, and knowing who was in the band. They have a new record out on Hydrahead Records called ORPHAN. It clocks in at 12 minutes. 12 minutes of awesomely brutal. Listen below.
