Ga’an hail from Chicago but bring with them a very Italian influenced sound.
The soundtracks to the films of Dario Argento, and Lucio Fulci come to mind, and thus so do the sounds that the synth prog band Goblin brought to some of those soundtracks. But Ga’an is a less propulsive band than Goblin generally was. Ga’an’s sound is based in layers of haunting synths laid atop swirling repetitive drums at times intermingling with equally haunting female vocals. There is always a melodic drive despite the droning nature of much of this music. The results are hypnotic and as Ga’an’s influences would lead us to believe, very dramatic/cinematic. Ex members of the awesome COUGHS still making interesting sounds! Ga’an play TONITE(5/24) @ PROBLEM HOUSE in allston with some of Boston’s coolest weirdos: SKIMASK, ARVID NOE, THE GONDOLIERS, and EHNAHRE(ex-Kayo Dot)
