The Desperate Bicycles. One of the most smart & fiercely independant punk bands to come out of the late 70s, a 77′ start up. Often mentioned as pioneers of the DIY ethos. And even if they weren’t the first, they certainly were early proponents of it. Angry and jubilant at the same time. Jangly, and messy, and sloppy and beautiful. Super charged rants against the status quo, especially as related to the music industry. Thus, in the choppy seas of now the Desperate Bicycles and their songs appear very pertinent once again(if indeed they ever were not). All this and they manage to have a killer pop streak running through all their songs. Post-punk in a way, and if so at it’s poppiest. Just listen to this band and get excited and start a band for yourself for fuck’s sake!
