Highly doused in noisiness+fuzz garage pop from Canada’s left coast big city, Vancouver. CRYSTAL SWELLS. I say garage pop because that is certainly a large element of their sound, but this gang of rockers does a lot of deviating from that particular hackneyed template. And it is that deviation that just makes me so happy. The aforementioned noisiness CRYSTAL SWELLS brings(via their bandcamp’s streaming of their stuff, in particular the, GOETHE HEAD SOUP EP) is not just decoration but a serious part of their musical mix. Really they do the noisy indie/grunge dirge thing nearly as much as the garage pop. Fans of droning psych can probably also find something to latch onto. And all of it together?, it is a healthy mix. Go forth garage rockers. Knock down walls and take hostages.
