>LISTEN TO: COH – IIRON

COH(pronounced like the English word son), is the alter ego of the somewhat mysterious Ivan Pavlov, originally from Russia, now living in Sweden. His music comes across as a minimal post-techno, full of blips and bleeps and other electronic sounds, often with a strong dance music pulse. COH has just released IIRON(out on Editions Mego) which features all the usual COH hallmarks, but explores the sounds of metal(the music genre) and uses these sounds in tandem with COH’s innate minimal neo-industrial/kraut motorik sound to create an amazingly epic record. IIRON skitters between bare bones primitive electronic bleep and gnarly evil riffage(with pulsing electronic backdrop), thus creating an unholy alliance of sounds that is rare and extremely exciting. Pavlov’s merging of these kinds of sounds was explored previously on COH’s 2000 album IRON, of which this latest record is obviously a sequel of sorts. Definitely a ride you should take.
