The opening lines of Arabia Mountain beseech us to walk with the Black Lips. And so, we do for a dreamy, druggy forty minutes. This album sounds like a haunted jaunt on the beach. The Black Lips have produced a vibe that is both spooky and sunny, creating a potent blend of sixteen songs that compliment any scenic drive or acid trip. All tracks but one clock in under three minutes. The band has evolved, the production and quality are a lot cleaner, and this is the first time they’ve used the help of outside producers (Mark Ronson, Lockett Pundt). Don’t let this polish make you weary—the Lips are still true to their essence. Stand out tracks include “Raw Meat” and “Bicentennial Man”, as well as their single “Modern Art”. The album will be released on June 7th through Vice Records.
