Phoenix, Arizona expat Andy Brooks is Andy Menudo and/or Baby Names. Andy was one of the songwriters in the late, great Boston jangle pop band MITTENS(which Bodies of Water put out a record for back in the day). Here with Andy Menudo/Baby Names Brooks is doing some dabbling into the rap game, but mostly sticking to his pop guns and hear this now, dude’s hooks still slay. “I Think It’s Too Long Since We Got High” exemplifies the lo-fi bare bones awesomely catchy pop approach that this record is all about. Then there’s “One For My Honey” with its electronic drumbeats, lower register croon, killer falsetto, and just ripping solo to take us out. And all that in 2 minutes. Serious bedroom T Rex action. The facebook page which this record is on has a really crappy music player. So, make sure that you don’t let “One For My Honey” end, or else you’ll have to annoyingly start the whole album again to get to that track when you want to listen to it over and over and over. Watch out this guy is playing live shows now!
