Coming at you is a split between NYC’s Limbs Bin and the UK’s Two Million Tons Of Shit on Mr. Bin’s own Follow Me Into The Laser Eye label. With their track “Cackhanded,” Two Million Tons Of Shit take you through some of their grimiest noisecore yet. The duo pulverizes through 11 minutes of scraping, blasting grind whose lo-fi recording shifts the overall effect into the realm of noise, reminiscent of the clatter of The Haters, at times. Limbs Bin’s “Halloween 2014,” however, is the more compelling track. Over the years the project has toyed with a number of different ideas and sounds within its premise, and this new song feels the most fully formed. Here the electronics coalesce into an assured power-electronics landscape, whereas the vocal assault of his more grindcore/noisecore-oriented releases melts into the electronics. Instead of being at the forefront, the vocals break through the power electronics’ wailing walls of feedback, and hit the listener with a more punctuative fury. Overall, the track still feels deeply indebted to noisecore in terms of pacing, construction, and mentality, while remaining a power electronics composition. Echoes of bands ranging from Bastard Noise to Prurient (especially the collaboration with The Rita, albeit without the HNW) to Sissy Spacek are discernible.
