Deeply strange and invigorating electronic music, perverted electronic dance music, courtesy of one of the finest purveyors of such LEE GAMBLE. I mean, that’s what’s in store for you anyway if you check out the video for “Mimas Skank” above. The track comes from Gamble’s KUANG EP which came out this year, a little ways back at this point. Since then he’s released a full length record KOCH (both on the unstoppable PAN), and ever since I heard the man’s DIVERSIONS 1994-1996 (2012) record, I have been under his spell.

Yeah, thoroughly perverted electronic dance music is where I would first go to in describing LEE GAMBLE’s music. “Mimas Skank” is a nice representation of the different faces that Gamble wears. The grooves are there, the layers of syncopation, as well as a willful desire to submerge such rhythmic components to see just how powerful or not the beats that he has created are. The last minute of the track where the thing turns in on itself, consuming every inch of its own bobbing thump, is a fitting end in the hands of a creator who constantly looks to tear himself apart.
