L.O.T.I.O.N. – First Audio Document 2013

by

L.O.T.I.O.N. is one of the newer NYC bands, a duo comprised of members of Survival, Nomad, and Zatsuon. Their first demo is out now on Burn Books. Burn Books describes the release as ”noisy digital hardcore punk, like listening to Sakevi singing for NITZER EBB while you get your teeth drilled.” While the vocals don’t sound especially like Sakevi, the project definitely adopts a GISM aesthetic – from the song titles to the artwork to the production. First Audio Document 2013 sounds like a combination of GISM’s soniCRIME Therapy and Atari Teenage Riot, especially releases like the compilation Burn, Berlin, Burn! and the more downtempo parts of Is This Hyperreal?. The band’s concept outweighs the more under-realized elements, and makes L.O.T.I.O.N. a band to watch out for as well as one of the more unique acts coming out of the hyperactive NYC hardcore scene. Stream the fifth track, Welcome To The Civilized Word, below or download the whole demo, courtesy of Burn Books.
