BOSTON/NE BANDS, Fresh Stream

KRILL – “Foot” & “Tiger”

by

KRILL are a hero band of Boston. A local band that represents the members of its constituent community. A special band that is simply, special, not just projecting some kind of special onto its audience. Just special. And with a new album the three KRILL men appear to have not not made the leap forward that every band must make, perishing being the only alternative. And thank ya Jesus! KRILL, those fuckers with the curious, and spacey guitar sound, they’ve made the transition. They have evolved. I couldn’t have seen it coming fully, but I guess they did. There’s a new thing in town and they call it KRILL, and somebody @ ROLLING STONE likes them (whaaaaa?). Fuck KRILL. They rule. And they have a new record coming out on EXPLODING IN SOUND. A DISTANT FIST UNCLENCHING.

“Tiger” is an unholy, fully embraced, amalgamation of many indie rocks. Go with it. “Torturer” is a new thing. A roiling, math rock-ian riff situation explodes in a Pacific Northwest underground pop color combination that smashes my senses in the face, forcing me to ask myself about what this all is reminding me of (I’m still not sure). And “Foot”, “Foot” is yet another mesmerizing bit of advanced indie rock/ pop theory on desperate display… PIXIES?? I didn’t say it. A world of Allston bands like PILE, KAL MARKS, SARALEE, FAT HISTORY MONTH, etc. How could it not lead eventually to music as awesome as this??? KRILL’s best for sure. So psyched for this record.
