One of the most engaging records from the late ’60’s so-called “Bosstown” sound, Saint Steven was a one-off recording project of Steven Cataldo, who went on to play in the Nervous Eaters, and did some time in Ultimate Spinach before recording this mind-melter. A stream-of-consciousness loop of newsreels and found audio juxtaposed with smooth fuzz-pop of the highest calibre. At times moody and dark, at times frenetic and driving- each side was composed and presented as a suite. Side 1 being “Over the Hills” and Side 2 being “The Bastitch”. Extremely listenable and well executed psychedelia, made right here in Boston!
