While 2nd Place is a self-proclaimed “sophomore slump,” KISSING KONTEST’s second EP in their series is anything but a slump. The EP continues the theme of its predecessor, 1st Base, with bright keys, sarcastic lyricism, and stark simplicity. KISSING KONTEST proves that three chords and some dazzling creativity can turn a two-song EP into a comprehensive masterpiece; by layering multifaceted melodies, they forge a bubblegum pop with a sour sting that still remains as danceable as ever.
