Behold, Providence’s own heavy industrial noise trio just released their first full length EP and it hits hard. Kintaan melds ambient, industrial, experimental, and doom in a tight package featuring bass, drums, and noise to round out the heavy ensemble. Their untitled album features four well crafted tracks that demonstrate the diversity and scope of the band. Ambient soundscapes giving way to crushing bass riffs keep the album interesting and the listener wanting more. For example, the album’s third track “UNTITLED” weaves unique noise and synth, showing the bands reach into more experimental sound-scaping. The heavy, final track of the album “ULTIMACY” is also the climax of the album.

Don’t let the short track list fool you, it’s 31 minutes and 7 seconds of hot, fresh, harsh doom.

The album wades into new and exciting musical territory with its atypical line-up. The results are deep, dark, and depressing in the best way possible. The song ‘GRETCEHN‘ has been around three years since the band released a live version of the track, which is featured on this album. Clearly, to me, over those years the band has defined their sound into something that is identifiably theirs. The debut album leaves the listener wanting more from the band and high hopes that we will not have to wait another three years for the next evolution in their sound.

If you happen to find yourself in the Providence, RI area on Saturday September 22nd be sure to hit up Psychic Readings, the band is having an album release show with many other great local bands. Also, look into bassist Josh Yelle (@pencilmancer) for all your band logo and creepy sculpture/taxidermy needs.
