Some of that big beat electronic punk from NYC. KILL ALTERS have been around for a couple years travelling in the same show playing and sound making circles as SHOW ME THE BODY and GUERILLA TOSS. The penetration of punk mentality and aesthetics by hip hop (beats and flow) is complete in this day and age. KILL ALTERS and the aforementioned bands are proof of that. And thank the fucking lord, because we’re getting to listen to music being made by bands like this.

MIA, done up in a noise rock fashion, is the thought on this that I can’t escape. And maybe that’s lazy but it sums up the whole here rather nicely if you ask me. A 3 piece: electronics, drums, and wilding out front woman. It’s a great formula. Kind of reminiscent of Boston underground heroes SKIMASK if they’d done just a bit more acid. I am most feeling this when things gets absolutely noisy bonkers like at the end of “Shrill Birdy…Wart Therapy” or when the groove just beats the listener in the face, such as on “Ego Trip” which doubles  as NO SELF HELPS best track. Bass wobble leads to ass wiggle. Often.
