Jp KidsArts – Making the Band

Experimental Music by Kiddo's

by

If you have never had the chance to hear music written and performed by children, well then here is your chance. JP KidsArts instructor, Matt Delligatti, produced an album with his students and “Making the Band” is the result. Co-teacher, Tony Carter-Hill, made the music video to three of the songs from this album as well.

This album, at times, isn’t too far off from some of music we reguarly feature here on the Hassle. And now that isn’t a dig at free-jazz or free-noise at all. In fact, if KidsArts proves anything it is that how often we as ‘adults’ tap into a childish version of creativity to make and share our art.

In this respect, this album becomes much more interesting and complex, yet in all the unpretentious ways you would like to imagine yourself listening to free-jazz. Matt and his students even took the time to create a video for the songs Be the Rockers, Goldfish Go (in the Big Sea) and Pokemon are the BEST.

And I’d have to agree, Pokemon are the best.

Help KidsArts by donating or purchasing this album on their bandcamp page. KidsArts JP is trying to keep their employees through the COVID-19 crisis, so by donating or purchasing this album, you are also helping local musicians and artists.
