JERRY PAPER — “REAL. NOW. LOVE.”

by

It’s almost like Mac DeMarco sent a challenge out to the world: “Hey guys, who can be weirder than me?!”, and Brooklyn’s Jerry Paper energetically, triumphantly responded with the video for “Real. Now. Love.” At face value, it’s a three-minute SimCity acid trip with the soundtrack–Jerry’s signature monotone over a mishmash of synthetic sounds, some of which I swear are from the train ride on Roller Coaster Tycoon— to match. Behind the kooky animation, though, is a not-so-subtle message about the lack of fulfillment provided by material goods. Money can buy everything but satisfaction.

Make sure to watch the entire video to enjoy the, uh, twist ending.

Intrigued by Jerry Paper? His full-length release Big Pop for Chameleon World is out now via Orange Milk Records. Also check out Keeley’s exclusive Boston Hassle interview with him back before he played Hasslefest 6 this past November.

See the man in the flesh/ digital flesh:
JERRY PAPER plays a Boston Hassle show in Cambridge, MA (@Industry Lab) on 2/1/15!!!!
