INTRODUCING BOSTONHASSLE.COM PHENOMENA: NOSTALGIA CULTURE

A bimonthly call for submissions on a new topic. No experience necessary. All are welcome.

What the hell is good media if it doesn’t reflect the community it exists in? So here’s the deal,  – every 2 months we’ll be choosing a theme that proclaims our curiosity about society and its inhabitants. Bh.com phenomena is your cue to submit any piece of your own nonfiction writing that aligns with the theme. Love it? Detest it? Couldn’t care less? We want to hear it all.

A word on our first theme: Nostalgia culture

In a world where youth is time and time is money, nostalgia culture finds value in its age. It exists to remind us of who we are and where we’ve been as a society.  Nostalgia culture is omni-present; Big Brother’s ghost. It makes its way into the Walmarts, Targets, and mega-conglomerates of the world. It makes money.

Not gonna lie, it’s cool to be wise but what is so cool about nostalgia culture? Why are we drawn to it as a way to strengthen our own youthful identities? What does it say about us?

Instead of yelling your thoughts aloud in the middle of the street at night, tell us your honest ideas.

Submissions will be accepted and published until September 3rd, 2019 and can take the form of any flavor of nonfiction writing.  To submit, attach your piece and send it to extra@brain-arts.org with Nostalgia Culture Submission as the subject. Afterwards, please proceed in your all-telling bum-dwelling street-yelling glory.
