If you didn’t brave to cold to make it to HASSLE NIGHT for ONEIDA, CROSSS and LAIR (mem. Arvid Noe), then here’s a sonic summary of that moment in prog-noise-psyche history.
First was LAIR sporting a somewhat DEVO-oid sound in this incarnation as a 2-piece.
Next was CROSS from Nova Scotia’s chilly shores, calling up the ghosts of Prog with bassy incantations.
Music-connoisseurs came out in droves to this rare re-surfacing for three 12-minute jams of the kind which has made ONEIDA famous. Bon appetit!
Lastly, here is ONEIDA’s closing chant. Bear in mind this went on for 15 minutes. I’ve cut out a large chunk of the middle of this video so if you want the full experience just keep hitting replay about 4-5 times.
ALSO!!! Here’s a video of CROSSS from this very evening. I was going to WENT THERE it myself, but James beat me to the punch!! Thanks to Mario Epstein for the vid!! – DS
