Boston Hassle Statement

Hassle Events Calendar Revived…and open to submissions!

by

If you haven’t heard already, we’re relaunching the Hassle events calendar and we want your help to fill it up!

Yes, the state of in-person gatherings is still kinda shaky right now, but that doesn’t mean we all have to stay bored. The pandemic has done a number on many of our favorite local arts institutions, and made it harder to discover new artists and give them a platform. But we didn’t want to just sit around and wait until things became “normal again”.

After all, events are the foundation of the local arts scene, they’re how we meet people and build community, and we want to adapt to the challenges of the pandemic so that we can keep this community going. To us, that means embracing new forms of events and helping spread the word about events that are still happening.

So, we’re turning our events calendar into a submission-based listing informed by the community! The Hassle staff will still be on the lookout for cool events, but even we have our blind spots, so we wanted to give you all a chance to shamelessly plug your events (or other people’s events). Online events, as well as IRL events with vaccine requirements, are highly encouraged. If you’re experimenting with new ways to create social spaces online, we especially want to know about it. Nobody’s heard of the event yet? We can be the first!

So, if you’re hosting a show/art event, or just heard of one that you want us to know about, you can send it along to [email protected]. We highly encourage online or outdoor events featuring local performers/artists, especially events that experiment with new ways to connect attendees in place of typical face-to-face interaction. Please try your best to include the following information:

Submission does not guarantee inclusion on the calendar. Make sure to check if an event is already on the calendar before submitting!
