HAKOBUNE / M. SAGE – “When It Arrives” & “Lashing Canyon pt. 1”

by

Haunting drone and dreamy, crackling dispatches from somewhere beyond the sea depending on which side of this brand new split tape called SPLIT that you choose to turn to. M. SAGE released this head clearing joining of continental drifters (M. SAGE, Fort Collins, CO & HAKOBUNE, Tokyo) on his own PATIENT SOUNDS INTL. label.

Both artists bend guitar sounds to the max. HAKOBUNE lobs glacially paced waves of drone our way on “When It Arrives”, creating a sound situation that is very difficult not to be swept away in. On “Lashing Canyon pt. 1” we join SAGE just as he sets out from the mainland, probably with the intent of leaving the problems and annoyances of the world behind. It’s a great attempt, but its just too difficult a task, as it turns out that some of those problems and annoyances come from within.

An inspired pairing of ambient sound creators who are both very helpful in the quest to transcend the moment. It’s doing wonders for me right now as I finish writing amidst the gently billowing human crush of a rush hour outbound green line train. These aren’t proper videos, more like some kind of song visualization charts, but i’m pretty into them. I could get into a simple, aesthetically unified vid player stream trend.
