GO TO: TONIGHT (6/24) STEVE BACZOWSKI + BILL NACE + CHRIS CORSANO + GREG KELLEY QUARTET, KATE VILLAGE @ SPECTACLE

by

Non-Event deserve a lot of credit for providing this fair city with some much needed experimental music in comfortable, intimate settings on a highly consistent basis. The show they have planned for this evening is something quite special. Wind instrumentalist Steve Baczowski, guitarist Bill Nace and drummer Chris Corsano are all individually virtuosic avant-guard performers who constantly strive to coax from their respective instruments new and unsettling sounds. When they come together (in various formations) their powers combined conjure ecstatic improvised performances full of seemingly chaotic, but in truth adroitly composed pieces that tickle the ear and massage the brain. This trio has been touring the American and Canadian Northeast this past month, and comes now to Boston to join master trumpeter and avant-guard wise man Greg Kelley for their first performance as a quartet! Experimental guitarist Kate Village will also be present, performing a solo show “shooting the curl in a wave of feedback… in the endless battle between human and electronics.” And all this far out music will be contained by the comfy cool atmosphere of the Spectacle in Jamaica Plain. There’s no better way to blow your mind on this Sunday night – we guarantee it.
