GO TO: TONIGHT (6/12) BANDITAS, MEGAN JEAN, 28 DEGREES TAURUS, 6A VALLEY @ PLOUGH & STARS

by

The Plough and Stars, that cozy little Cambridge bar, is hosting a mellow evening of pure, distilled americana. Boston’s BANDITAS are a powerhouse trio of shadowy garage blues, a sombre soundtrack to that desolate open road. Charleston, SC duo MEGAN JEAN AND THE KLAY FAMILY BAND do it raw with a potent mix of semi-hallow body guitar, upright bass, banjo, washboard and more that carries you up in an mideastern folk flow before laying you down with some opiate laments. Fellow locals 28 DEGREE TAURUS get lost in a vivid swirl of shoegaze-tinged garage pop, while Providence’s 6A VALLEY take the long road, winding through the deep canals of your frontal cortex, emitting dreamy, melancholic psych-blues, complete with that most languid of instruments, the slide guitar. It’ll be impossible to feel bummed out with so many great musicians playing together. So come down and cool off this evening, you deserve it.
