It is happening again.
TONIGHT, local alt-rock legends Mission of Burma are ripping up a new one at The Sinclair. A sound and presence beyond words, but some words for you: these elders have aged together like mad scientists (with the help of trusty lab assistant Bob Weston) in a dusty lab room with pretty much the same set-up throughout. Same chemicals, test tubes, furnaces, jars, prepared with care, heated, thrown around (Peter! Catch!). Today’s experiment features a horn section! New experiment, same Burma.
The last time I caught them live I was struck by how funny Clint Conley was. Roger Miller’s a really nice guy.
Neal Markowski, drummer of Korean Jeans, he will be there:
Forget this being a “great second act in rock, Jim DeRogatis” – Mission of Burma releases album after amazing album. The only “Horrible Truth About Burma” is that they don’t play Boston enough. Don’t mess this up kids – see this band.— Neal Markowski
Brian Rose, Boston’s #1 tutor, he will also be there:
Come check out an old band in a new venue! You simply can’t call yourself a Bostonian until you’ve seen this band.—Brian Rose
I’ll be there too. Go tonight! Come say hi!
