Go To: Tonight (10/19) Amen Dunes, Mmoss, Olden Yolk, Hot Tub Panorama @ O’Briens

by

Sometimes you wanna rock, and sometimes you just wanna turn off your mind and be floated through time on a droning ebb and flow of psychedelic soundwaves. Over at Allston rock spot O’Brien’s tonight, you’re likely to be enveloped in just that latter form of labyrinthian trance from which you may never return, not that you’d ever want to. New York-based Amen Dunes (Sacred Bones) is a top head in the weird rock game, and he’s steamrolling through town – and likely your consciousness – with his enchanting take on psychedelic drone rock wizardry. This year’s psyched-and-screwed take on overheard Ethiopiques jams, Ethio Covers, is one of the weirder and more interesting things we’ve heard from this always-magically-strange performer. The addition of some of the top performers on the Northeast psych circuit make this bill even more legendarily exciting. New Hampshire’s Mmoss make saccharine psychedelic folk that comes on like a lullaby until you realize you’re not falling asleep but succumbing to the substances you forgot you’d taken, and Olden Yolk (Shane from Quilt) provides the down home sepia-toned psych folk that makes you yearn for the ’60s he makes you forget you didn’t experience. Local ambient electronic up-and-coming noisemakers Hot Tub Panorama round out this behemoth of a bill, making for a supremely strange experience garnered from some altogether next-level performers.
